New Zealand, School Registers and Lists, 1850-1967

This collection contains school registers and lists from the following schools in New Zealand: Wanganui Collegiate School (1854–1939), Christ College School (1850–1921), Nelson Old Boys Register (1856–1956), School List of the Wellington Diocesan School for Girls, Nga Tawa, Marton (1911–1967), Southland Boys High School Register (1881–1930).

Not every student was able to be listed in some of the registers. A known case is the “School List of the Wellington Diocesan School for Girls, Nga Tawa, Marton,” as some of the records were destroyed in a fire. Names of girls were added to the list from a birthday book added by a former student.

Records may include details such as name, birth year, attendance date, residence, death date and place, and father’s name. Others may indicate occupation, spouse’s name, work history, teams, teachers and administrators, photos, a chronology of the institution, or other details.
