Western Maryland History

This database contains a history of western Maryland, which includes Frederick, Montgomery, Carroll, Washington, Allegany, and Garrett counties. The history extends from the earliest period though 1882, which at the time of publishing was the "present day." This history covers many events and aspects of the history of western Maryland, providing information on such things as early settlers, wars, societies, politics, boundaries, laws, etc. The history also includes biographical sketches of many of the prominent and representative citizens of these counties. Historical works such as this contain valuable information that can be a great addition to your genealogical research because they provide information on the time and place in which your ancestors lived. Also, even though your ancestors may not be listed in the biographical portion of this history (since it only covers the most prominent citizens of the area), much can still be learned by reading about the lives of others who lived during the time of your ancestors.
