About U.S., Quaker Genealogies, 1893-2003
This database contains a collection of published genealogies of Quaker families in the U.S. It includes the well-known Webster Parry collection. Parry was a Richmond, Indiana businessman who, in the 1880s, began to collect information on the original Quaker families of Indiana and western Ohio, with particular emphasis on those with Virginia and North Carolina origins. It is estimated that by 1850, at least one-third of the population of Indiana was composed of Quaker families from North Carolina and their children. This was due to the movement of entire Quaker congregations from the South into Indiana in the early part of the 19th century.
This collection is available for browsing only and contains no indexed records. The genealogies are alphabetical by title and vary in format from professionally printed books to handwritten materials.
