About UK, British Army Recipients of the Military Medal, 1914-1920

This index lists over 88,000 recipients of the Military Medal. Instituted in March 1916, this medal was awarded to non-commissioned officers (NCOs) and men of the British Army for acts of bravery during World War I. The Military Medal was later extended to women who showed bravery under fire. There was also a provision for the award of a bar for each further act of bravery. All Military Medals issued to British Army personnel are named in this collection. This index does not include Imperial troops or Navy personnel.

Details may include name, rank, regimental number, regiment or branch of service, battalion or unit, and death date.
