This database contains an index to deaths that occurred in New Zealand between 1848 and 1966. The index was prepared by the New Zealand government and provides the deceased’s name, year and quarter of death. Note that prior to the year 1870 the quarter was not recorded. Also, the place noted in the record is where the death was registered, rather than where the death itself took place.
