Marriage Notices of Ontario 1813-1854

Reid's Marriage Notices of Ontario is a massive collection of marriage records. It consists of extracts of marriage entries from more than thirty Canadian newspapers and periodicals published between 1813 and 1854, papers such as the Kingston Gazette, Christian Guardian, Correspondent & Advocate, Patriot, Toronto Herald, [Hamilton] Gazette, [Toronto] Globe, and many more. Perhaps ten percent of the records, it should be noted, refer to persons with connections to other parts of Canada, the United States, and Great Britain.

The marriage entries provide the date of the marriage, the names of the bride and groom with their town or county of residence, usually the names of their fathers, and the name of the officiating minister. The records are arranged by periodical and, thereunder, chronologically.
