Selkirk Town, located northeast of Winnipeg, was named after the fifth Earl of Selkirk, Thomas Douglas, who had established the Red River Settlement in 1812. In 1891, approximately one-fifth of the residents of Selkirk Town were immigrants from Iceland, but most of the population was born in Manitoba. This database contains more than 900 entries of residents from Selkirk Town in the census year 1891.

Springfield:

Springfield is located in the eastern region of Manitoba. It is believed to have received its name because of the numerous springs in the area. This database lists more than 1,700 entries of residents from Sprinfield in the census year 1891.

Saint Andrews

Saint Andrews, located southwest of Selkirk, was originally known as Sault a la Biche. Most of the population in the early 1890s was born in Manitoba. This database contains more than 1,800 entries of residents for the census year 1891.

Saint Francois Xavier, located in the central plains of Manitoba, was originally within the census district of Marquette, but in 1891 it became a subdistrict of Lisgar. By 1901, this subdistrict was within the census district of Selkirk. This database contains more than 1,100 entries of residents from Saint Francois Xavier in the census year 1891.
