About Texas, U.S., Select County Marriage Records, 1837-1965

This collection includes marriage records from select counties in Texas. Additional counties will be added at a later date. See the list of sources for a full list of the counties included in this database. In some cases, images are not available for portions or all of a particular county.

This collection consists of a mix of marriage licenses, returns, certificates, affidavits, and indexes. The documents that are available in this database vary depending on the county. All marriage records include the names of the bride and groom, as well as the date of the license and/or marriage. In many instances, additional details are available as well.

If a marriage record includes the name and title of an officiant, and that person was affiliated with a religious institution, this can be a clue as to the couple’s religious affiliation. Religious records may extend beyond the marriage and provide additional information on the family. If the name of the institution is not available, by looking up the institution in local directories for that time period, you can often establish that tie.
